MAINE PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL AUDITIONS

While we have not yet selected the final scripts (which will be done before the auditions), here are some details about the 11th installment of this incubator for new plays. All performances take place at the St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland.

Evenings of Short Plays

Two different evenings of 4 to 6 plays will be performed 3 or 4 times over the course of the 2 weekends

8 to 10 2-minute plays will be given multiple interpretations by a small ensemble of actors

The 24-Hour Portland Theater Project

An exhilirating event in which brand news plays sharing the same location, prop and line of dialogue are brought to life over the course of just one day

Any actor is welcome to audition - preference will be given to former and current students at the Acorn Acting Academy. If we are not familiar with your work, please prepare a one-minute monologue. Auditions will last 15 minutes and will consist of cold readings of sides from the scripts. Actors will receive a small stipend or a free acting class for their work.

We are also looking for actors for a few roles in Naked Shakespeare's latest performance installation

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL AUDITIONS

directed by Michael Levine

This will be an audience walk-through environmental installation at the Portland Company Complex in the style of last season's "Cymbeline Underground." Actors will receive a stipend. This is an competitive audition process - please read the play if you intend to audition and prepare a Shakespearean monologue of no more than 20 lines. Auditions are at the dates and times listed above.
