ACORN ACTING ACADEMY FACULTY MEMBERS

KEITH ANCTIL

has been acting and teaching theater professionally in Maine for ten years. When he’s not performing, Keith works at Wescott Jr. High in Westbrook, where he is the founder of the Wescott Theater Company, as well as working as a drama instructor at Breakwater School and Cheverus High School.

KYM DAKIN

has credits that span from television and animation, to Broadway and national tours. She was a member of Madhorse Theatre Co. for many years and on the original teaching staff at Acorn School. She has recorded hundreds of voiceovers, well over a dozen audiobooks, and in 2006 she won the Audie award for Runaway by Alice Munro. Kym is the proud mom of Skyler, age 10, and a founding member of the Portland Playback Theatre with David LaGraffe.

RACHEL FLEHINGER

has been teaching for many years, first in New York City and now Maine. Her students can be seen on film, Broadway and stage throughout the country. She has studied at George Washington University, Brooklyn College, and The Michael Howard Studio with Larry Singer.

MICHAEL LEVINE

has been teaching acting in Portland for over ten years. He is a graduate of M.I.T. where he studied with A.R. Gurney, Kristen Linklater, and Shakespeare and Company. He is the founder of Acorn Productions, the director of the Naked Shakespeare series, and a former freshmen English teacher at Gorham High School.

STEPHANIE ROSS

has been directing and teaching acting in Maine for the past 7 years. She has worked onstage and in film in New York City and New England. She holds a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where her acting teachers included Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy and David Mamet.

REBA SHORT

is an actress and theatre educator. At Mount Holyoke, she explored the use of theatre as a community forum. She has received traditional Shakespearean training as well as physical theatre and clowning techniques. Currently, she is the Artistic Director of the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine. She has been acting locally for all audiences since 2004, including productions with Mad Horse Theatre Company and The Theater Project.
