Summer acting camps at the Acorn Acting Academy are designed for kids who want to have fun while exploring the craft of acting with some of Portland’s best-known professional actors and directors. Sessions will be focused around the production of a short play, either created by the students from their own imagination or adapted from a familiar story or fairytale. Students will not only act in the productions, but also design and construct their own costumes, sets, and props. The final performance for each session will either be held at the Acorn Studio or another venue in Greater Portland. Acorn’s acting camp will be sure to energize your kids imagination and provide them with a summer experience they will never forget!

KEITH ANCTIL has been seen on stages from Boothbay to Boston, from Machias to Manhattan and points in between. He has been acting and teaching K-12 theater professionally in Maine for eight years and loves it. Keith has trained with lots of great people, but had the most fun learning from Al Miller at The Theater Project. When he's not performing, Keith can be found at Wescott Jr. High in Westbrook where he is a special educator and founder of the Wescott Theater Company.
CELESTE BRIDGFORD has been teaching children's theater classes for the past seven years. Celeste is a theater graduate of the University of Southern Maine. Besides being a preschool teacher in Bethesda, Maryland, she also taught acting classes at the Bethesda Academy of Performing Arts. Since moving back to Maine she has taught theater classes on Peaks Island and runs a week long summer theater camp at the Peaks Island Children's Workshop. She is currently in an Improv troupe on the Island.
MICHAEL LEVINE has been directing and teaching acting in Portland for the past ten years. Mike is a graduate of M.I.T., where he studied playwrighting with A.R. Gurney, and acting with Kristen Linklater, and Shakespeare and Company. He is the co-founder of Oak Street Theatre and Acorn Productions, for whom he has directed many productions, including The Cocktail Hour, Burn This, Buried Child, and Much Ado About Nothing. As a teacher, his work is heavily influenced by the theories of Sanford Meisner and Keith Johnstone.
